YVONNE'S STORY
God's been working with me about IMPERFECTION. I feel like a totally imperfect person and could not imagine why God was calling me to Bolivia. I've been on three previous mission trips to Bolivia and two to Brazil, but I don't feel like I have much to contribute. I came primarily to be moral support to my husband, Herb, who had come on the last two trips without me. When we arrived I was struck about how imperfect most things seem to be here. The roads aren't perfect, there aren't even lines on the roads to guide the drivers because they would ignore them anyway, so why should they go to the expense of painting lines? The hotel is not perfect, the taxis aren't perfect, the church building isn't perfect, the bricks aren't perfect, our brick laying isn't perfect, our mortar mixing isn't perfect, our painting isn't perfect. No one on this trip is perfect, except maybe Cory...
The people here use imperfect tables, imperfect chairs, imperfect sound equipment, but it still all works when God is using it. I had a vision of how all of us imperfect people are fit together to work God's perfect purpose. I heard a sermon once that created a new definition of perfect for me. It was said that even if a pen barrel has been chewed on, as long as the pen writes it is perfectly fulfilling its purpose and therefore is perfect. Perfect has become one of my favorite words because of that sermon. I am perfect as long as I am fulfilling God's purpose.

ON DAY 8 WE...
Started our day with a word from Pastor Walter and some worship
Teamed up to lay bricks
Prepped the upstairs for painting
Devoured a delicious almuerzo of chicken, rice and potatoes with a picante sauce
Enjoyed the children from the barrio
Made amazing progress on the walls
Were so sad to say goodbye to Chrissy and Morena
Ate delicious tamales and corn cakes to send them off
Took taxis to eat at the awesome Casa de Cambo
Loved the fried crocodile appetizers
Experimented with lots of different kinds of meat. Lots of kinds!
Don't think Chrissy the vegetarian was too excited about the big platter of meat in front of her.
Laughed as Herb handled but didn't taste the intestine of a cow. Evan did try it!
Were in awe of Anne as she tasted bull testicle!
Needed some ice cream to end the night. Because we didn't eat enough apparently?!
So deliciously fresh.
