Jr. High Gobble, Gobble, Give...Thanksgiving Day

Gobble, Gobble

Jr. Highers, on Thanksgiving morning, while your family is busy making food and getting the house fancy, come help us do something great for the people of our city. We'll meet in the church parking lot at 9am, then carpool down to Echo Park, prepare meals and be back by 1pm, just in time to go see your aunts and uncles.

Last year we tried something new and participated in "Gobble Gobble Give" - a huge effort to feed everyone in Los Angeles on Thanksgiving. It was a great time, fun, easy, safe, loud and a little chaotic, but really good. So we're going back this year to do it again. Sure, it's a little cliche to go feed the homeless on Thanksgiving, but we want to give you something easy and fun to start with.

What they do is get hundreds of people to donate food, prepare, pack and hand deliver meals to people all across the city. There's lots of soup kitchens open on Thanksgiving, but there's also lots and lots of people who can't get to them, Gobble Gobble Give finds those people and gets them fed.

We'll be there to donate food and prepare meals, and then on our way home we'll take a quick driving tour of skid row. Families are welcome to come together, but we'll be safe and well cared for if you need to stay at home and make turkey.

We are asked to bring:
1) Food: "It can be as simple as store bought rolls or as special as your grandmother's famous turkey and stuffing. Make or purchase as much as you like."
2) Five toiletry kits, with a toothbrush/toothpaste, soap and shampoo. You can get all of this very cheap at the dollar store.
3) Used blankets and gently worn clothing if you have any handy are highly appreciated.

We will be serving at: The Echo Nightclub - 1822 W Sunset Blvd, 90026
Full details and what to bring are on the Gobble Gobble Give Facebook page:
