Imagine Christmas

Imagine Christmas?! These days it seems more like, “I can’t imagine it is already Christmas!” But nevertheless, it's here! Even though this weekend marks the beginning of advent, it doesn't make me feel completely "ready" for the season.

But I know that I need more Christmas; and advent gives me the chance to search God’s word and reflect on the amazing story once again. Somewhere between my memory and my imagination is the message that God intended when he sent Jesus. I need more of that message. I need more of the assurance of God’s love and care. I need a deeper trust in God’s dreams for my life. Far too often, I think that I must miss what God has for me at Christmas because I don't imagine the right things.

So this year, I want to re-imagine Christmas. I love the season and can’t wait to see what it will bring. I don't want to treat Christmas like a fairytale...I want it to be a message straight from God’s heart to mine. I'm praying that over the next few weeks that the phrase, “Imagine Christmas” takes on a whole new meaning in my life as well as yours. What would it mean to you to re-imagine Christmas?
