This year I’ve been thinking about my tendency to rush toward Christmas, with all of my expectations of how to make it shine. Then the voice from inside reminds me that arriving at Christmas has nothing to do with how the holiday is dressed or how many lumens have been added. Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the Magi and Simeon didn’t know they were about to experience the first Christmas. They weren’t trying to meet a deadline, they had no opinions on the look and feel, no expectations. They were simply in touch with unique qualities that enabled them to listen and be led into that place of joy that illuminated that first Christmas.
