  • Bolivia - Justin's Story

    IMG_9833

I was so excited for a second round of serving Gods kingdom down in Bolivia this year.  God did so much in my life last year, I couldn't wait to see what he had in store for me this time. So, once again I went down with no expectations, except that God would put some new things on my heart...

  • Homeward Bound

Our 2 week trip has come to an end. We are currently sitting in the Panama City airport. Waiting.

  • Bolivia Day 12 + Ann's Story

ANN'S STORY At the beginning of this week Elda, Pastor Walter's wife, asked me why I returned to Luz Divina this year. It took me by surprise. I couldn't put into words the reason because I just felt like I had to come back.

  • Bolivia Day 11 + Abby's Story

ABBY'S STORY As I was thinking of what to write for my blog post I decided to tell one story for each trip I've been on to Bolivia and what God taught me. Two years ago at the age of 12 I got to go on my first trip to bolivia, and out of the country. It was also the first time Montrose Church had worked with Luz Divina.

  • Bolivia Day 10 + Ipp's Story

IPP'S STORY Life is pretty simple... Back in the states I’m a doer, a goer, a mover, and a shaker. I’m a little OCD and I’ve been known to overcomplicate or over think many things in my life, including my faith.

  • Bolivia Day 9 + Kiko's Story

KIKO'S STORY One day at school, Kaylin and I decided to talk to Mr. Smith during snack to ask about this mission trip to Bolivia. Herb only had wonderful things to say about the people, food, and the experience as a whole and encouraged us to go on it.

  • Bolivia Day 8 + Yvonne's Story

YVONNE'S STORY God's been working with me about IMPERFECTION.  I feel like a totally imperfect person and could not imagine why God was calling me to Bolivia.  I've been on three previous mission trips to Bolivia and two to Brazil, but I don't feel like I have much to contribute.

  • Bolivia Day 7 + Kaylin's Story

KAYLIN'S STORY  First Impression:  The most welcoming group of people I have ever met. So many of them were there to greet us at 2am in the airport! Even though I was overwhelmed by spanish (all I could say was sî and hola, me llamo Kaylin!) right off the plane I was so happy to see them.  The Worksite: It's hard labor but I see it more as bonding time for us all.

  • Bolivia Day 6 + Evan's Story

EVAN'S STORY 5 of my favorite things so far: 1. Knocking down walls was awesome. It felt like I was Thor.

  • Bolivia Day 5 + Morena's Story

MORENA'S STORY Unlike my team members I was not excited about the sports night on Saturday. Let's just say I lack athleticism and on top of that it ws quite chilly. I found myself sitting in the bleachers among the people.

  • Bolivia Day 4 + Eric's Story

ERIC'S STORY I'm 30! First of all, I can't even tell you how awesome it is to celebrate your birthday in Bolivia. All day the kids called me "viejo" which I believe loosely translates to young, strong and handsome.

  • Taking the Heart of Montrose Church With Us

As July 18 draws near, I'm getting excited to embark for Bolivia once again. It's pretty incredible to think that we have partnered with the Luz Divina Church for three years in a row and each year we have been able to continue the work we started. The work is always challenging and rewarding but it's the relationships that we all hold on to. Every team has built great friendships over the years and even when team members can't make the trip back they stay connected with our Boliv...

  • The Faces of Bolivia

    Mission:Bolivia

    You'll never forget their faces.

I couldn't go on the Mission: Bolivia trip last summer.  It's been almost nine years since I've been there.  But as I read the blog posts and saw the photos of last year's team, their faces were still right there in my memory.

Mission:BoliviaThe first year I went to Bolivia, I didn't know what I would actually do, or why I was actually going...I just knew I was supposed to go.  I worried about the fact that I spoke no Spanish, I certainly was not trained in bricklaying, I wasn't a doctor, and I had never tried my hand at digging ditches.  I worried that I would be the dead weight of the team.  I knew nothing about shooting video or taking photos, but I grabbed a few cameras and packed my bags.  I didn't know what I was going to have to offer this little church or these people so far from home...(more)

  • Shoes for Ariana: Reflections on the San Francisco Mission Trip

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” - Matthew 25:40 This past summer was an awesome snapshot into the life of Montrose Church. We had VBS for the youngsters. Our Jr.
