Are you finding any time to rest? This is summer time and somewhere we are supposed to get away, loosen up our schedules and enjoy the long lazy days of summer. How’s that working out for you? For me it seems that summer is just one more season of rushing around with too much to do. Some of the things I have to do are more enjoyable in these long beautiful Southern California days, but restful doesn’t seem descriptive of my experience.
I think I am learning that resting is about something way bigger than the activity level of my life. Resting is all about the condition of my heart. I have been invited to by God to enjoy, green pastures, still waters and an easy yoke. I have been promised rest for my soul. I don’t know exactly what that means, but it sounds like deep rest, foundational rest, transformational rest. I think God would be pleased if I focused more on the condition of my heart and His place in it instead of the condition of my calendar and my place in it.
I can’t wait to worship with you this weekend. Byron is getting back into the groove, I am excited with what God has been teaching me for this weekend, but mostly I know that God is inviting me into His presence and that offers rest all the way down to my soul! See you this weekend!
