Every Friday afternoon I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, it feels like the week should be drawing to an end, yet on the other hand the first service of the weekend is less than 24 hours away. Part of me wants to unwind, the other part can't wait for the first service to begin. That is especially true this week. As Byron continues to recover, he is slowly rejoining the team. This week he was involved in planning the worship music and that makes the weekend special.
I also think this weekend's focus speaks to a very important truth; we all need love and approval. We thrive on encouragement and wilt under criticism. Most of us have insecurities that we try to keep hidden. Our need for approval runs so deep that our culture takes the message of God's word and turns it completely upside-down. I am praying that the worship that God has led Byron to choose and equipped Eric to lead will change the course of your week. I am praying that the power of God's word would speak to our deepest need for approval and would free us from myths that gloss over our need for a Savior. I hope to see you this weekend...
