Greetings. This is Phillip Kiehl and I am partnering with Montrose Church to bring Celebrate Recovery to our church with the hopes of helping to heal our brokenness and pain through this ministry. My wife and I Cynthia along with five others from Montrose were able to go down to Saddleback Church this last week for a three-day conference to learn more about this ministry and how we can bring this great program to Montrose Church. We are very, very excited!!
Let me ask you as question. How would you define the word Celebration? What words come to mind when you think of defining or describing this word? Does your mind drift to the song, Celebrate Good Times, Come On? How would you also define Recovery? What words come to mind when you think of describing this word recovery? Maybe recovery means overcoming something, or maybe it is bouncing back from some type of an event or crisis in our life.
So, how then does Celebrate Recovery fit into all of this description? What are we celebrating or what are we recovering from? And how does this program fit into a ministry that is right for Montrose Church and in all that we are doing? In other words, how is Celebrate Recovery Christian or Spiritual or even a Ministry part of a church?
In its simplest form, Celebrate Recovery is similar to the words from the song, Amazing Grace. To celebrate is to be so happy and grateful of God’s Grace who saved a sinner like me! To celebrate is to focus on how I once was lost in my own selfishness and brokenness and my dependency on all the wrong things and it is a shift to recognizing I am recovering from my brokenness to being found in Jesus Christ. It is to celebrate my recovery where in so many areas of my life I once was blind to so many areas of my life but in Jesus Christ, I can now see.
To celebrate recovery is to celebrate all the many ways God is working in my life to move me from being broken, to be lost, to being blind, to now experiencing hope, being found, and now seeing and experiencing Jesus Christ as my only source of hope for my life. Please join us in this ministry as we celebrate Jesus Christ!!
