What's It Like to Be a Fun Life Leader? Wendy's Story

Wendy Jacoby, a Montrose Church member, has been a part of Young Life Capernaum (Fun Life) since the very beginning.  In this blog post, Wendy shares about her experience in serving local young people with special needs:

Being a Fun Life leader is crazy, wacky, hilarious, moving, and amazing all at the same time.  Our Fun Life friends are just like any other teen or young adult - they long to be accepted by their peers, they want to have lots of friends, they want to be treated with respect.  The girls are interested in the boys, the boys are interested in the girls, and they all love music.  My favorite part of this special group of people is that they are genuine - all the time.  I hope that as a Leader I make them feel accepted and valued for who they are - they certainly make me feel this way.

Not all of our friends can verbalize their thoughts and feelings, but each has their own unique way of conveying their thoughts and feelings.  I am always amazed to see how God works in each one of them.  Camp is a great time to partner with our friends as they grow deeper in their relationship with the Lord and with each other.  We are all created in His image and after looking beyond what is seen on the outside it is amazing what you see on the inside.
